Pastor Nominating Committee Update

February 21, 2024

You may recall that in January the PNC shared that one candidate excited the committee, and we began to envision this leader at Pine Street.  In late December, that candidate visited Pine Street to learn more about the church and Harrisburg.  Representatives from the Presbytery’s Commission on Ministry met with the PNC and the candidate, and we continued to engage in conversations about ministry at Pine Street.  Late last week we heard from the candidate, who expressed appreciation for Pine Street and its ministry, however, their discernment and decision-making process has led them in another direction.
Since January, your PNC continues to search for candidates, review their profiles, and schedule interviews.  We recognize the challenge that faces so many congregations that there are fewer candidates searching for calls than there are churches seeking pastors.  We continue to ask for your prayers and support as we remain dedicated to the process of discerning the future pastoral leadership of Pine Street.
If you have any questions, you can contact David Colestock.

February’s Giving Barrel Project

A new month is almost here, which means a new focus for the Giving Barrel.  This month we’ll concentrate on our beloved neighbor, Downtown Daily Bread (DDB).

It’s hard to believe that DDB was started 41 years ago as a Pine Street mission.  While DDB and Pine Street are now legally separate, we are still deeply connected.  The majority of DDB’s Board members are also Pine Street members.  Church members are regularly involved in serving and giving.  It has been and is an important part of our mission.

Here are the current needs:

  • Hand warmers
  • Blankets
  • Men’s and Women’s underwear
  • Laundry detergent

You can also order from their Amazon Wish List by clicking on the Amazon Wish List link below. You can even have the items sent directly to DDB.
Here is the Amazon wish list:

DDB Is so important to addressing homelessness in Harrisburg. Let’s continue our heartfelt, generous support of DDB this month. Thank you!
