Lunch after Church
Join us Sunday, November 5, at 12:00 pm for lunch at Aura, 4434 Carlisle Pike, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Please RSVP to Betty Rader no later than Thursday, November 2.
AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR THE ENHANCEMENTS……
An extension of Sunday worship has been our time of Fellowship following church. Many of us gather to visit over a cup of tea or coffee and catch up or discuss an upcoming event. The saying “meet me after church” is often synonymous with our Gathering Place. The enhancements are the treats provided by many of you. Remember, animal crackers and Oreos are appreciated also!
A special thank you for providing these “enhancements” during July, August, and September is extended to Deanna and Devona Van Nest, Lisa Milletics, Anna Hall, Linda McKillop, Sandy Allen, Sally Songy, Bill Mader, Barbara Neff, Deb Gruver, and Keith Perago.
LAST CALL FOR ADVENT AUTHORS
Many thanks to those who have already responded to help write Pine Street’s Advent Devotional guide. The project is well underway.
However, there are still a few open slots for additional writers. As an Advent Author, you will write at least one short devotional piece or provide a piece of artwork for Advent. Each Advent Author will be given a specific scripture text and date. If you are willing to be an Advent Author, please reply to Krystle at [email protected] or phone the church office at 717-238-9304 by Friday, November 3rd. You will be sent specific details once you note your willingness to participate.
November Giving Barrel
November has arrived, and our Giving Barrel is empty, after distributing its gifts to others. This month we are returning to Mission Central Disaster Relief and their infamous Cleaning Buckets (sometimes referred to as Flood Buckets depending on the situation). Each five- gallon round bucket with a lid contains 16 items, ranging from scrub bushes and gloves to masks, wipes, and soaps.
We have been asked to help replenish two items as follows:
- Air freshener that is NOT aerosol. Examples… Glade Solid Air Freshener, deodorizer for home and bathroom, 6 oz OR Clear Air Odor Eliminator Gel Beads, 12 ounce-2 pack.
- CONCENTRATED household cleaner, 40 oz or less. Examples… Mr. Clean 40 oz. Multi-purpose Cleaner OR Lysol Multi-surface Cleaner, 40 oz OR a similar 40 oz cleaner.
A September report indicates 3,744 cleaning buckets went to New England after flooding, 700 went to tornado victims in Michigan, and 5,700 hygiene kits were sent to Maui after the disastrous fires.
Mission Central is a global ministry of the United Methodist Church, but long ago became ecumenical in its support. Pine Street has recently collected used shoes and assembled hygiene kits for them.
The items requested can be picked up on our regular grocery store runs, so let’s join in and fill the barrel once again. Thank you from our Mission Committee.
Bring a Friend to Church
Pine Street is asking you to participate in a “Bring a Friend to the Church” program during this Christmas season. In the month of December, many beautiful things happen at Pine Street, particularly, the Lessons and Carols and Christmas Eve services. Ask a friend to attend one of these services and get an RSVP from them via email or text, so that we may thank them for coming, through a gift or other act of kindness. Let’s make this Christmas a joyful one by reaching out to family, friends, and neighbors, and have them experience our way of celebrating the arrival of the Christ child. If you have questions about this program, contact the Engaging Our Neighbors Committee at [email protected].
Thank you from the band
Thank you to all who were able to join us and/or otherwise support the Halloween fundraiser dance. The band had a great time, and hopes you all did as well!

November 5, 11:30 am led by Mwat Asedeh:
I hail from Nigeria and spent my entire childhood there. In 2014, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Missions and Evangelism from JETS (Jos ECWA Theological Seminary). After completing my bachelor’s degree, I served as a missionary in my home denomination in Nigeria from 2015 to 2017. Later, I served in the Gambia from 2018 to 2019. I am happily married to Achsah, and we are blessed with three children named Dariah, Dominic Jr., and George.
In 2022, I graduated from Lancaster Theological Seminary with an M.Div. and served as the full-time covenant pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church Mendenhall for approximately a year. I am now enrolled at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, pursuing a master’s degree in Project Management. Additionally, I am in the process of becoming a minister member of Donegal Presbytery.
In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, photography, and watching movies.
Mwat will speak about Community and worship from a West African perspective.
If you have missed any of the previous classes, a video recording is available. Please contact the church office if you are interested in watching this great series.
