DDB Night Shelter Now Open
The Downtown Daily Bread Night Shelter for men opened on Monday, November 1. This date is one month earlier than the usual December 1 opening. We are always looking for ways to expand our services, and providing a warm and welcoming environment as the nights get colder and colder seemed like a good idea. About 20 men are sleeping here each night. We are thankful to our staff and donors for making this possible.

Surviving the Holidays – This Saturday, November 6
10:00 am – 11:30 am
This time of year, and especially this year, many of us are experiencing a sense of grief or loss as the holiday season approaches. If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, the holidays this year may be particularly difficult. Surviving the Holidays is a program designed to give you comfort, coping skills, and hope for the busy weeks ahead. This clergy-led event includes a 45-minute video presentation followed by group conversation. Surviving the Holidays is sponsored by the Deacons and Stephen Ministers. It is open to the community, so please save the date and tell your neighbors and friends.
This is an “in person” event held in the church’s Fellowship Hall with masks and distancing required. Call the church office at 717-238-9304 if you have not yet registered but wish to attend.
Daylight Savings Time Ends this Sunday, November 7th!
Please remember to turn your clocks back on Saturday night and enjoy the extra hour of sleep! Church services will begin at our regularly scheduled times. This is the one Sunday of the year where being late for church is difficult to do!
Preparing the Path to the Future – Updates from the Transition Team and the Interim Search Committee
The Transition Team has drafted an Executive Summary of the CAT results and has begun to share those results with Session. The team will continue to meet with Session next week and begin to prepare ways to engage the congregation in the work of planning for the future.
The Interim Search Committee welcomed a candidate to Pine Street last week for a visit with staff and a tour of the church facility. We continue to communicate with the Carlisle Presbytery to inform them of our progress and to seek input into the search and discernment process. Once a candidate is named, they are presented to Session and to the Presbytery Commission on Ministry for approval. We are hopeful that we will be concluding the interim search process soon.
If you have questions or concerns about the interim search committee or transition team, please do not hesitate to contact David Colestock at 717-645-6174 or [email protected]. Please continue to keep the Transition Team, Interim Search Committee, staff, officers, and congregation in your prayers as we continue to prepare this path to our future together.

Advent Breakfast, November 28th
On the first Sunday of Advent, we will gather at 8:45 am for a delicious breakfast prepared by our favorite chefs, Suzanne and Michael Hogarth. There will be no Church School classes that morning. Children join their families for breakfast and an Intergenerational Advent program.
Email the church office at [email protected] or sign up at the Welcome Center so we can better estimate attendance. An offering will be received to cover the cost of the meal.
