Around the Church for March 29, 2023

April Giving Barrel Opportunity
Throughout April, we will support the nonprofit organization, The Urban Regenerative Farm, Inc., run by Kerry MacDearmid, our Office Administrator.

TURF, Inc. is a community service organization that seeks to develop community gardens throughout Harrisburg in order to grow food for the community and teach residents how to provide for themselves. Last year, Kerry and her organization designed and installed the Giant Bleacher Garden at the old Bishop McDevitt High School and donated over 2,000 pounds of fresh produce to the community. This year they have projects planned for the Boys & Girls club of Harrisburg locations on Berryhill Street and Hall Manor, the community center on Walnut Street, and the new green space on Swatara Street.

A List of items needed can be found on the organization website: https://turfinc.org/donate.
A contribution form and box for monetary donations can be found at the welcome center.
Items which can be placed in or near the giving barrel include hand tools (rakes, shovels, weeders, trowels, 5-gallon buckets, etc.), gardening gloves for adults and children, and notebooks to be used as field journals.
Larger items such as lumber and soil can be donated by coordinating a drop-off with Kerry by emailing her at kerry@turfinc.org.

Welcome Janiya Lynn Bransford!
Congratulations to Corrie Lingenfelter, Executive Director of DDB. She delivered a healthy baby girl on Saturday, March 25. Janiya was 8 pounds 13 oz and 21 in long. Mom, baby, and family are doing very well.
