3rd in the Burg – Join us this Friday!
Yearning for a yuletide carol sing-along? Or just a peaceful place to have some conversation? We have just the DIY solution! Bring some friends and join us Friday, December 17 in the Gathering Place and Sanctuary to enjoy the Advent and Christmas decorations. This is a casual drop-in (not a performance). The church will be open from 6 pm to 9 pm with singing beginning at around 7 pm.
Also, please consider signing up at the Welcome Center for an upcoming 3rd in the Burg event. We would love to have more members involved in welcoming visitors to our gallery and sanctuary for these events.
Pine Street Walkers Plan Mural Walk
The Pine Street Walkers welcome you to a downtown Harrisburg walk this Sunday to see the city’s outdoor murals. We will walk the downtown area to view these beautiful murals and will be caroling as we stop to see each piece of art. Afterwards, we will find a spot for refreshments. Meet us at the corner of Third and Pine Streets by 1 pm to join us. Please email the church office at [email protected] if you need more information.

Last Chance to Order Poinsettias for the Sanctuary
Orders must be placed by tomorrow, December 16. The cost is $12.00 each. If you have not yet placed your order, please contact the church office at (717) 238-9304, or email [email protected].
Additionally, we will be UN-decorating the church after Worship on Sunday, January 2. Please plan to stay and help. The more volunteers, the quicker we can get it done!
Longest Night Service
On Tuesday, December 21 at 7:00 pm, tune in to our prerecorded Longest Night Service on Facebook or on our website.
The “longest night” has become an expression for the spiritual journey of grief and loss. Our time together will be especially appropriate for those who have experienced a significant loss this past year. In this time of worship, you are invited to a quiet refuge of prayer, music, remembrance, and Holy Communion. We will acknowledge our losses and ponder the everlasting hope that shines like a light in the darkness.
Year-End Contributions
All contributions for 2021 must be received in the church office on or before December 31 (or be postmarked on or before that date). All 2021 contributions will appear on your final annual Contribution Statement for 2021 tax purposes, which will be mailed in January 2022.
TONIGHT – 3rd in 4-Week Series Led by Deborah Port – “Feasting Habits for the Soul” – Via ZOOM
Feasting Habits for the Soul is a four-week Advent study to help us create healthy devotion habits in our lives. Each week we will look at the Advent text and theme to launch us into a deeper understanding of how to spend time in our Bibles, time with God in prayer, and do the work of discernment. This week’s focus is the habit of JOY.

Wreaths Across America Friday, December 17
Wreaths Across America Day is a day that has been set aside to lay wreaths at the places where we remember, honor, and teach about our veterans: Cemeteries, monuments, parks… Anywhere we can pay tribute to their sacrifices.
Pine Street Presbyterian has been invited to join Homeland Hospice at the Dauphin County Cemetery/ Potter’s Field in a simple military wreath ceremony honoring Veterans buried there. To participate, simply meet us at the cemetery on Gibson Blvd, Harrisburg 17104 (behind UPS shipping company) by 11 am.
Final Opportunity to Help Those in Need for Christmas!
Please remember to bring your wrapped gifts to the Welcome Center on Sunday, labeled with the child and item number. Also, your cookies for DDB and checks for HELP Ministries or the International Service Center should be dropped off this Sunday. If you haven’t signed up yet to contribute toward fuel oil assistance or our new Afghan neighbors, just bring your checkbooks! Thank you for helping us show God’s love!
In addition, our new neighbors from Afghanistan are in urgent need of warm clothing for the adults and toys for children and teens of all ages. The toys should be new. The clothing can be gently used. We need small and medium sizes for women (no large, please), and medium and large for men. Just deliver your donations to the Welcome Center, and we’ll see that it gets to the right place.
