Around the Church for April 26, 2023

Update from the PNC
Following a brief hiatus from the search process for Lent and Easter, the Pastor Nominating Committee has resumed its work. We continue to hold first and second interviews of potential candidates. We will also be pursuing reference checks as we get to know more about their ministry. In addition, we have requested a new query in the Church Leadership Connect system which resulted in more than two dozen additional candidates.

We ask that Pine Streeters continue to pray for the PNC as they continue to learn about candidates and their ministry. We ask for prayers for candidates who God is guiding to Pine Street. We also ask for prayers for all as we look to the Spirit to help us discern God’s plan for Pine Street’s future.

This Sunday will be the last day to donate through the giving barrel to The Urban Regenerative Farm, Inc. for their garden education projects in Harrisburg. Checks may be placed in the box at the welcome center. Gardening gloves and other small items can be placed in the barrel.
TURF, Inc. is grateful for the hand tools and gardening gloves they have received, as well as the hydroponic countertop garden and the buckets, etc. They have also received $575 toward garden box construction and soil to fill the boxes.

PC (USA) Research Surveys
As part of its regular work, our denomination, the Presbyterian Church (USA), regularly collects information from church members. This information is used to guide and direct denominational work. These surveys are one way for you to make your voice heard by our denomination. The PC(USA) is conducting several surveys over the next few months to complement the work of the General Assembly from 2022. As they are applicable, please take a moment to fill out the surveys.

The first survey covers marriage and romantic relationships, family structures, and expressions of gender identity. The surveyors recognize that some of these topics can be sensitive, so they encourage respondents to skip any questions with which they are uncomfortable.

Please use the link below to provide helpful demographic information to the denomination!

Current COVID Procedure
Pine Street Presbyterian Church will follow CDC guidelines to ease masking requirements and allow in-person gatherings, including food. While Dauphin and Cumberland Counties are in the low or medium community levels (according to the CDC’s “COVID-19 by County” page found at:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/covid-by-county.html). Masks will be optional for all Pine Street events, including worship.
