MAPS Event – Organ Spectacular

At 7:00 p.m, Wanamaker Grand Court Organist, Principal Organist at Longwood Gardens, and Choirmaster and Organist of Saint Clement’s Church in Philadelphia, Peter Richard Conte is an internationally respected artist, praised by critics and audiences alike for his stunning technical facility matched with breathtaking musicianship, made known both through live performances as well as his many recordings. He will be joined by flugelhornist and organist Andrew Ennis for an exciting and engaging program, featuring such interesting transcriptions as Respighi’s Pines of Rome and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, among others. This recital is a co-presentation of the Harrisburg Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and MAPS.

Summer Adult Forums – Fellowship Hall

June 24 – “Inside the Music” – Brett Terry and the Chancel Choir give us an inside look at how they prepare the music they sing in worship, and you’ll be temporarily drafted to be part of the choir as we make music together!

July 1 – Chantal Atnip, Heather Sigler, and Russell Sullivan will share with us the events and highlights of General Assembly.

July 8, 22, 29 – Dr. Michael Cosby, retired Professor of Biblical Studies at Messiah College, will explore with us his research into the life of the Apostle Barnabas and also the parables of Jesus.

August 5, 12, 19, and 26 – Dr. Lee Barrett, Professor of Theology at Lancaster Theological Seminary, will lead our forums. The topic is to be determined.

July 15

Worship Service – Adams Ricci Park (Picnic to follow service)

Worship, a picnic, and games will take place at the Northeast Pavilion at Adams Ricci Park in East Pennsboro Township. Plentiful parking will be available with a drop-off steps from the pavilion, which is completely walker and wheelchair accessible.

Plan to bring a dish to share. Hamburger barbeque and hot dogs, beverages, plates, etc., will be provided. Sign up at the Welcome Center beginning June 17 or by e-mailing office@pinestreet.org. There will be no worship at Third and Pine that morning.

Sermons

God continues to speak to the church and world through the Bible. Our sermons come from the Biblical passages from the lectionary and are thoughtfully paired with prayers, hymns, and anthems to create a beautiful worship service that glorifies God.
